Data

Analytics

Leveraging data analytics for decision-making to improve the equitable distribution and efficient use of health and other social sector investments.

Our Work

Open Development supports partners to improve data collection, analysis and use for decision-making by focusing on how to translate the data into action, including:

  • Customizing and supporting the roll out of information systems, such as the integrated Human Resource Information Systems (iHRIS), that meet the needs of public sector planners

  • Leveraging existing processes for data collection to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health and social sector investments

  • Cultivating an environment that uses data collection and analysis to foster change, adaptive learning, feedback mechanisms, and course correction

  • Promoting responsible data ethics and use, working with local stakeholders to balance risks, costs, and privacy based on the context and regulatory environment

Country Spotlight

In Namibia, as part of the USAID-funded EpiC project, Open Development helped the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) launch the integrated Human Resources for Health System (iHRIS)—a digitized information system for managing human resources for health. iHRIS will modernize the way the health system plans, hires, deploys, and manages resources across the country.  Our staff also support the MOHSS to generate and distribute an annual Health Workforce Status Report that serves as the seminal source of evidence on the current state of staffing in the country and enables the MOHSS to respond to the needs of the Namibian population more efficiently and equitably.
